Why join

Shipping goods? Read this.

The marine industry burns the dirtiest fuels in the world. Today, sea shipping is a fast-growing source of greenhouse gases, projected to account for 17% of global CO2-emissions by 2050. On top of that, the shipping industry is the 6th-highest emitting “country” and a major source of black carbon emissions.

International legislation

The shipping industry has so far not been included in any agreements during the yearly Climate Change Conferences of the UN because it would have staggered the negotiations. The UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) – that is responsible for the prevention of marine pollution by ships – has postponed its Greenhouse Gas Strategy to 2023, despite the fact that there is a clear solution at hand.

Why act?

Joining the GoodShipping Program will not only make your containers shipped carbon-neutral, you will also be able to show other businesses that it is easy and about time to think further than their own backyard. We welcome you to join our global community of corporations that demonstrate leadership in the field of sustainability by helping us change the norm in the shipping industry.

Scope 1, 2 and… 3

Customers demand more transparency and our climate demands change. Businesses that understand this mostly focus on their scope 1 and 2 emissions – the emissions that are caused directly by their business owned entities.

We hope you realize your scope 3 emissions – emitted as a consequence of your business activities – are just as important for our climate. Because no-one can change this for the better when you ship your goods via the container shipping industry, but you.

We have made it easy for all companies that have sea shipping as part of their supply chain,  to join the program in a way that fits their company’s goals. Our service of injecting the carbon-free biofuels into the marine market space is not dependent on your current operations, geography or logistical partners.

By joining the GoodShipping Program you will be able to show your customers that you take climate change as serious as it is. In addition, your business will raise the sustainability-bar and show other businesses that there is no longer a good excuse to do their shipments just for the lowest price possible.

We welcome you to be part of a global community of like-minded companies that demonstrate leadership in the field of sustainability. This way we can influence local and international decision-makers to develop necessary marine incentive schemes.
